Arleta Taylor

Arleta Taylor is an abstract artist based in Waco, Texas, whose richly textuered paintings have captivated collectors and critics alike. Over fifteen years, she has built a distinctive body of work- immediately recognazible for its tactile surface, limunous layers, and bold memorial resonance. Her canvasses shimmer with gloss, and metallic sheen, commanding attention while inviting intimate contemplation.

Arleta's practice spans drawin, composition, collage, and mixes media, with a particualr fascination for the intersection of Baroque aesthetics and contemporary abstractionism. She waves together historical richness and embellished with the directness of modern expression , drawing on symbolism, mythology, and spirituality to create the works that feel both timeless and urgently present.

Her subject matter-gratitude, vulnerability, endurance, displacement, and renewal- is deeply authobiographical. As Taylor describes it, emotion becomes physically embedded in the painted surface through her direct touch, each layer carrying the memory pf a personal journey that began with uncertain sight, crossed an ocean, and found its fullest expression on canvas. She has exhibited at ART 2 art Gallery& District in Las Vegas and held a three -month showing at Marie's Wine Bar in downtown Waco in 2024, with futures in the Waco Tribute-Herald and Waco magazine.
